The Artistry behind JB

A little insight into the ‘why‘ and how JB Photo and Design was formed, please start with This Post.

The ‘Design’ of JB Photo and Design began during Jenni’s time in her MOPS group.  She was the Publicity Team Leader for three years and fell in love with typography and clipart and trying to fit the theme of the year into the design.  With the monthly newsletters, numerous mailings, informational flyers and welcome folders she always challenged herself to do more and do better and enjoyed attaining that ‘wow factor’.  That self initiative and desire is still with her today.  This paper design passion resides in the JB Photo and Design Etsy shop and is updated monthly with new pretties.

Jenni continuously strives to expand her photography, editing and design knowledge by taking classes, reading, researching and practicing (be watching for the “Call for Portraits” sessions she announces on the JB Photo and Design facebook page), and makes it a goal to step out of her comfort zone often to expand and push her photography and creative design skills.

Jenni uses her home office as her studio in Small Town, Kansas.  Though she does not currently hold photography sessions there, she is hoping to begin hosting themed sessions on her property sometime in late 2016.  Jenni does hold client portrait viewing sessions at her home studio on occasion.

Random Facts about JBPD:

JB Photo and Design was founded late 2012 when used solely as a fundraiser for her MOPS [Mothers of Preschoolers] group and for family and friends’ portraits.

In 2015 after a supportive nudge from her husband, Jenni Blake moved JB Photo and Design from a hobby to a limited liability company.

In September of 2015, the Douglas County Kansas Courthouse showcased a sample of portraits from JB Photo and Design.  [See the posts regarding this HERE.]

JB Photo and Design shoots primarily in the Kansas City metro area, however they are willing to travel (Jenni says, “Please get married in Vegas!! *wink-wink!!”).  See Investment tab for rates.

Sessions are normally offered outdoors at a public park or building though new locations are always being scouted.

JBPD shoots with her baby – the Canon 6D, but uses her original dslr, the Canon T3i as a back up.  She also owns several prime/non-prime Canon lenses that will cover just about any need that arises during your session.  She is also addicted to camera bags (but don’t tell her we told you!)…and you’ll more than likely see her using her favorite pink Kelly Moore bag.
