As a photographer my #1 question I usually receive is, what should I/we wear to our portrait session? (For those of you wondering what my #2 question usually is – how did I decide to get into photography. For the answer please see this post, ‘WHY PHOTOGRAPHY‘. )
I did create a Pinterest board that has a ton of options, but wanted to create a quick shopping guide with my favorite picks for MOMS only because May is for MOTHERS [day]. See what I did there. hehe 😉
In my opinion, once you decide what to wear then the rest of the family is easy. I always suggest to put Mom in something comfortable and bright. If Mom is comfortable and relaxed then the kids just fall in line.
I do have to say that they are commissioned links. Meaning if you purchase something, THE COMPANY pays me a small commission.
As always – thank you so much for supporting my small business – yes, we do happy dances with every ounce of support. ♥
MAY PICKS FOR MOMS IN PORTRAITS
1 – Amazing wrap dress which is a FAVORITE among many moms for portraits – comes in numerous colors – but my FAV is the green: https://bit.ly/2xHQInm
2 – Floral midi dress which is also a favorite for portraits – other colors available: https://bit.ly/2xHRMHS
3 – Red maxi dress which comes in other colors and PETITE for us height challenged moms. 🙂 : https://bit.ly/3fpVmHC
4 – Easy breezy top that does well in photographs: https://bit.ly/35ApyuZ
5 – Another top that comes in multiple colors and does extremely well in photographs with the bellowing sleeves: https://amzn.to/2L7hBEo
6 – Tie sleeve shift dress: https://bit.ly/2L8qSf8
7 – Knot waist short sleeve shirt – numerous color options: https://amzn.to/3dqJvY3
8 – Tie sleeve top: https://bit.ly/3fqAOPi
I know you’re thinking that these are mostly solid color options and yes, you’re right. I tend to stick with solid colors for portraits because when you start mixing patterns – especially busy and tight/small patterns – I have to watch putting these people right next to each other in the frame. I want to notice your face and not the patterns clashing. But please note this is only MY preference and not a right or wrong way to dress for portraits.
I can’t wait to see what you choose for your portraits this year! Please share your favorite place to shop or your favorite inspo board with me in the comments. I’m always searching for new ideas!
XO,
JB
