Being that the egg isle is quite stark I’m assuming everyone is stock piling eggs and will at some point be looking for creative ways to use them. In the midst of what is going on in the world right now with the quarantine and social distancing and self isolation and mask wearing and the NO TOILET PAPER crisis,…Easter is just a few short weeks away. Why not have some fun with your kiddos and get a head start on coloring the eggs??
I’ve cooked eggs this way since the kiddos were little, and now they do it themselves. It’s easy and quick and *almost* fail proof. 🙂
It’s the BEST way to cook eggs as it doesn’t leave that gross green slimy ring around the yolk! They are bright yellow and oh so pretty – no green gunk in sight.
Directions for the most amazing best-est hardboiled egg:
- Put eggs in pot and cover with water up to 2″ above eggs. Add tablespoon of salt.
- Put pot on burner and turn burner on
- Bring to a rolling boil
- Shut off burner and cover (but leave pot on burner to keep heat)
- Let sit for 12-15 minutes
- Drain and place eggs in ice/water bath to stop the cooking
- When eggs have cooled, place in refrigerator. Eggs will stay good for up to 5 days.
My family usually makes a dozen at a time as the kids like eating them plain with a sprinkle of salt and I use them in my salads.
Enjoy!
