I’ve begun a new category called, From Grandma with Love. All of the recipes that I create from her recipe boxes will be found on this page. You can read about the story behind these recipes and how much they mean to me on THIS PAGE.
There are a multitude of recipes in Grandma’s recipe boxes but this one is perfect for the first to highlight here, in her own little corner of internet land.
The recipe as she wrote it is titled Duncan Hines Cinnamon Streusel Cake so I don’t know if she got this recipe from a magazine or the cake mix box.
CINNAMON STREUSEL CAKE

1 Pkg Yellow Cake Mix
1 Pkg Vanilla instant pudding mix – small box
2 Tablespoons Oil
1 1/3 Cups Water
2 Eggs
Streusel Topping:
1/2 Cup Flour
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
2 Tablespoons Butter – melted
Directions
- Heat oven to 375 degrees
- In large bowl blend cake mix, pudding mix, oil, water and eggs. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed.
- Spread 3/4 of batter evenly in greased and floured tube pan
- Combine streusel ingredients. Sprinkle 2/3 cup over batter in pan.
- Spread remaining batter over streusel top with rest of streusel.
- Mix (though I would call this “twirling” – to incorporate the streusel topping into the batter but not incorporating it thoroughly.
- Bake 40-50 minutes until done.
- Cool right side up in pan for 25 minutes
- Remove from pan and glaze.
- Glaze – 3/4 cup powder sugar with 1 tablespoon milk. Drizzle over cake.
