Hello Friends!

I know it’s pretty cliche but I cannot believe how fast life has flown by. My middle child just graduated high school, and to be honest I’m not quite sure how I feel about that.

In the past month I’ve been asked the question, ‘how are you feeling about his graduation?’ And each time I respond, ‘the graduation is nothing, ask me again come this fall when we drop him off at college.’

And while that is 85% true, his graduation is just the preceding step to that milestone.

As moms, I think we tend to lean in more towards raising our kiddos. I mean, we carry them within the depths of our bodies for 9 months, feel their every kick and giggle at their every hiccup while in utero. We endure multiple hours of painful resolve to bring our babies into the world. We are there with every emerging tooth, every knee scrape and broken bone, we are up with them at 2am when they are sick and not to mention every playdate, every test, every school dance, every sports game, every drivers test, every college application.

Being a mom is my absolute greatest accomplishment; one that I am so proud to claim.

So while this graduation of my second born son is magnificent in itself and I am so very proud of him, it will pull on a different set of heartstrings come fall when he moves into the dorm. I’ve already joked with the fam that mom will most likely be doing the ugly cry so it’s best to just avoid looking in my direction.

The graduation took place at Sporting KC/Children’s Mercy Park which is a local soccer stadium. The forecast was cold and dreary – which was really unexpected for late May.

After sitting out in the elements for a few hours I was a little chilly but fortunately the stadium seats were really close together and the (unknown) woman on my right was wrapped in a big fuzzy blanket and on my left was the hubby so I was cozy. 🙂

I hope June treats you well, Friend.
