Luke 2:15-20 The MSG – “As the angel choir withdrew into heaven, the sheepherders talked it over. “Let’s get over to Bethlehem as fast as we can and see for ourselves what God has revealed to us.” They left, running, and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger. Seeing was believing. They told everyone they met what the angels had said about this child. All who heard the sheepherders were impressed. Mary kept all these things to herself, holding them dear, deep within herself. The sheepherders returned and let loose, glorifying and praising God for everything they had heard and seen. It turned out exactly the way they’d been told!”
Faith can be a scary thing. Imagine if the sheepherders had decided NOT to follow the angels’ prompting? What if they were more concerned with their family and friends’ opinions of them and decided it was safer to not “rock the boat” by chasing their own path? The journey they chose in faith, despite what people said about them, brought them closer to wholeness, happiness and peace. It brought them to a Savior.
Sometimes the paths we choose to take may not be the popular vote. You may receive immense heartache from those around you. But this journey – YOUR JOURNEY – is only about what brings you closer to your wholeness, your happiness, your faith and your Savior.
In the verse above, it states that once the sheepherders found that what the angel had said was true, they then told everyone they met what had happened. I believe this is how our story should goes as well. Once we make that leap to step out in faith and follow our own path, will find our Savior in the journey. Then we can share our story of how we had to walk [alone] in the wilderness but through that struggle we discovered wholeness, happiness and peace found only in Him.
Merry Christmas, Friends! May you be brave enough to follow your own path and my you find peace within the journey.
