Good morning and happy Friday, Friends!
If I haven’t mentioned it recently, it’s my birthday month! And that is *really* not something I usually announce as I’m a very private and don’t-like-the-attention-on-me type of person, but, as I was reminded recently by a woman in my bible study/growth group your BIRTH DAY is a gift from God. To be able to celebrate another year should not be taken for granted – it’s God’s gift. So, celebrate it and accept the attention of your special day. 😉
Every year my sweet daughter would make a birthday cake for me but this year I had been craving a cake that I made a few years ago. The family isn’t too fond of the flavor combo so she suggested I should make it. 🙂 So I did.
Cakes are not my culinary passion so it’s not the prettiest nor most intricate in detail. But it was sure tasty and it satisfied the craving – which was my ultimate goal – so mission accomplished.
Also since this wasn’t the family’s favorite flavor combo they didn’t devour it within 8 hours of completion so I was able to slice it up and freeze it for another time. (I’ll post the recipe at a later date.)
Don’t ask me why they aren’t a fan of chocolate cake and peanut butter frosting with a ganache topping…it’s decadent and rich and perfect for a birthday celebration. They must be from another world. #ohwell #moreformom
Can you believe Christmas Eve is only 5 Fridays away? I’m sure you can commiserate with me when I say, OH MY GOODNESS!! This year has scooted on by with a vengeance.
Have you begun shopping?
I used to be one of those crazed people doing as much shopping as possible at 2am on black Friday (this was before they started opening on Thanksgiving evening). Here’s how that usually went down: after fighting the crowded parking lot we would hop in line with numerous others waiting for the opening of the store that contained THE-THING, waiting for the clock to strike GO then wildly – with a tired-yet-crazed look in our eyes – fighting elbows and claws of other early morning shoppers dashing into the store hoping to grab the one item that would make the recipient smile.
Sounds tiring and energy draining, doesn’t it?
Nowadays I prefer to “fight the crowds” online…fighting for bandwidth. 😉
Have a fantastic weekend, Friends! Thank you for stopping by!
Please join me on IG or FB, or check out all my favorite pins!
On to the eye and heart catchers of the week.
