Master Bedroom Decorations | My Favorite Reading Nook | LVCO Kansas Photographer

It has been a long time coming to get this reveal on the blog. Ever since I posted THIS PHOTO on socials in 2019 I’ve been taking my sweet (procrastinator) time getting it decorated and above all posted here. (To my defense I have been going through some stuff though…)

Before I get started I should do the thing that is required of me for this type of post and add that just like the July post, Mothers Day post and Fathers Day post some of these links are commissioned links. Meaning when you make a purchase from one of these links the company sends me a small commission. These commissions in no way make me a millionaire but every little bit helps with my family’s monthly expenses. Thank you-thank you-thank you for supporting a small business in this capacity, Friends. ♥

Tell me if this sounds familiar to you –

You spend 18 years in a house with minimal personalization to the walls, minimal decorations, hand me down furniture, mis-matched sheet sets on the beds then when you decide to sell the home you paint, add rugs, buy furniture and wall decorations, put blinds on the windows, buy hotel grade matching sheet sets and all the other things your realtor tells you to just to get the house sale and showing ready.

I didn’t think we were the majority in this…

That is exactly what we did with our last home and I vowed to not do that to this one.

Though it’s easy for me to justify all that in our last home because I was dealing with big things – one being raising 3 babies all within 5 years of age, and one other from letting perfectionism dictate my entire world…among several other things.

I have done better with this home, though it’s a very slow process.

However, a slow process is forward progress regardless of how quickly it happens, right? 🙂

That’s what I keep telling myself anyway…

One of our pups thought he would help decorate as he attempted reconfigure the ottoman/pouf’s design and ripped off one set of strings. These pouf’s are usually sitting on top of the chair unless we’re sitting in them.

After looking back on these images I see a few other things I’d like to change/add to this space. But for now it works for the purpose and I’m happy with it. 🙂

This spot has become my favorite reading (also prayer and journaling) nook. Right now I am co-leading a Philippians study at our church and this spot has been perfect to gather observations from the passages. Philippians is only 4 chapters in the Bible but to break it down into sections and study it then discuss it in a group has been an absolute blessing.

I am forever in awe of the ways God works in our lives. I’ve learned that no matter how much we attempt to control the story line of our life we will never be able to imagine the narrative that God has created and purposed for us. We may have many chapters of our life that are filled with plot twists, loss and heartache but God always redeems our pain for His purpose. Don’t give up. Keep moving forward as you never know what He has planned for your next chapter. ♥

On to the item details and links:

Wall Color: Sherwin Williams Naval

Prints: Engineer Prints at Office Depot – size 24×36. These photos were taken against a light gray wall and I was actually just testing the lighting to see if it would work for something else which is why the kiddos don’t at all look excited about the photos. LOL However, it makes me love these prints all the more because it’s a sincere expression. #lovemybabies

Wall Hooks: Wood Wood Wall Hooks for Prints

24″ Frames for Posters: Magnetic Poster Frame (2 Pack)

Pouf Ottoman: These are no longer available but find similar pouf’s HERE and HERE

Floor Lamp: Similar one here

Chairs: These were originally purchased for staging at our old house and were black in color but after some research I found Angelus Paint had numerous positive reviews for refinishing chairs like ours. I used the tan color for these.

Lumbar Pillow: Ours are old and plan to update to navy blue similar to those HERE, HERE, HERE or HERE

Throws: The striped one was my fathers but similar HERE, the checkered is old but similar HERE. I would like to upgrade these eventually to something like this one. #cozythrowsarethebest

Side Table: This was my fathers, similar HERE

Items on Side Table: favorite pens, lotion, journals, journals, color markers, Braving the Wilderness by Brene Brown, Business Boutique by Christy Wright, EntreLeadership by Dave Ramsey, How to Do the Work by Dr. Nicole LePera, several magazines, scissors, reading glasses
